“I’m 43 And In The Best Shape Of My Life”

I joined Roark four months ago after being recommended the gym by a good friend. He said it was tough but rewarding, and he was right on both counts.

The first 3 weeks were especially challenging both physically and mentally. “No short cuts, just hard work” sums it up perfectly. I was working from a low base after having not exercised regularly for 12 months. The white flag was raised a few times and I crawled away defeated, but perseverance is the key.

My commitment was to pitch up three times a week and train hard and focused for 1 hour – the winter mornings were dark and cold. The rest was taken care of with well structured workouts designed to extract the best from you regardless of your level.

For an extra boost I signed up for the WNW (Why Not Winter) challenge and adjusted my diet to be more in line with the eating plan guidelines supplied – nutrition is very important.

It’s hard not to be inspired when you’re surrounded by athletes pushing themselves and digging deep. There is zero attitude at Roark, instead there’s a great feeling of camaraderie and positive energy in the gym. I’m completely addicted to the post-workout endorphin rush, and that’s free.

You won’t find a water cooler, a juice bar or flat screen TV’s at Roark Gym, but you will be trained by professional coaches, be surrounded by positive individuals & you will achieve more that you ever thought possible.

It’s never too late to teach an old dog new tricks, I’m 43 and in the best shape of my life thanks to the Roark team.
